Good call on the dress. It's very adaptable and you'll get a lot of use out of it. Plus if it make you feel good, it's worth it.

I'm all about the discount shoes. Had a mega-expensive wedding dress (which I rented, so it wasn't mega-expensive for me) and white satin Chinese Laundrey platform sandals which were on sale for $20.

The Tadashi looked great on you. And the lace dress looked good on me. :)

Just catching up with you.

When I worked at Lord & Taylor (north of Boston), the dress department stocked Tadashi pieces. And they were pricey, but they do get marked down. If you're not adverse to dept. store shopping, check out the sales (L & T run regular ads in the big papers). You can do pretty well.

OMG great dress! And those shoes - I want.
(Sorry to hear they didn't work out though, but getting money back is always good!)

Congratulations, MsChicklet!

Unfortunately, the fabulous shoes didn't work out; too tight and too high and really too short. Which is okay, because I ordered a cheap backup pair, and that looks fine. And now I can get the $230 I spent on the fabulous shoes back.

Love both dresses!

Picture the boudoir dress in ivory, and that's what I'm wearing as my wedding dress in a few weeks.

I feel compelled to spread the gospel of www.shopgoodwill.com. It's an auction site for the best donations to Goodwills across the country. You can get great things that are brand-new for a fraction of the cost.

A friend of mine who's been a librarian for a long time (and is on the faculty of the library school at my university) told me about a game he and his colleagues would play called "spot the librarian." They would observe people at conferences and other events in which librarians gathered and would try to guess what sort of librarian (public, academic, etc.) they were.

This is awesome. I'm currently trying to decide whether I can bring myself to shell out for oops!">this one. You might have just inspired me. Bitch.
