Still don’t get the point.
Actually, I should rephrase: I still don’t get the point for most purposes. I did read about a Korean lunch truck in LA that has built a following via Twitter, because their route is irregular and customers can check the Twitter feed to see where they’ll be that day. So for stuff like that, sure.
But do I really want to read tweets from, say, a funeral or a wedding?
Sigh… People never get the point of Twitter until they start using it. Zuzu, you have so many friends already on Twitter, it’s a no-brainer for you. I’ll be your first follower, I promise. (@jmilles)
The point of Twitter is (for me) to be randomly snarky about things I happen to see at any given moment. For example: last night I was in a brew pub and the bartender didn’t know what lager was. Really, mocking him called for a wider audience than just my husband.
I would have thought it’d be a medium in which you’d thrive. =)
Eh, it’s like Facebook. I don’t have access at work, and then I have other things to catch up on when I’m at home.
I can see why Twitter would be fun for people, which is cool, but I haven’t gotten into it because it would be another Internet time suck when I’m trying to really get a lot of stuff done, e.g., dissertation, getting a new job, etc. Facebook already is enough work for me.
OT:
For example: last night I was in a brew pub and the bartender didn’t know what lager was.
A bartender in a brew pub should know that, though I’ve noticed in the craft beer/microbrew/brew pub culture here in the Northwest that lagers are sometimes pooh-pooh’ed as somehow being inherently bad beer or not “real” beer. It’s bullshit, of course, but some folks think beer isn’t beer unless you throw in an assload of hops.

An excellent point. I don’t know why there’s veritable worship of IPAs here, but there is.
With respect to accessing Twitter: I’ve got it on my phone, which is pretty much the only place I read it. I can scroll through updates when I have a few minutes here and there.
